Why some people can say just what they mean in Spanish… while others blurt out the wrong thing and get into trouble?

The explanation is simple.

And when you really get it, beyond the surface, you see exactly why, just like you always suspected…

No one has the ultimate method to learn Spanish.

Not even me.

So I’m not going to play the game of saying “they don’t know what they’re doing but I do.” I’d rather focus on solving the problem instead of pointing fingers at others for how much, or how little, you’ve learned so far (I’m sure you already have your own theories about that).

It’s not easy being a diluted version of yourself.

In Spanish you can’t fully channel that other you, the one who feels sharp and confident in your own language. People don’t get to see the intelligent adult you really are.

And what you really want is to be you, not some imitation of a native speaker.

You want to string together complex sentences effortlessly.

To crack jokes.

To captivate your listener.

You worked your tail off studying for a reason.

All for a certificate that was supposed to prove how much you knew.

And one day life proved you didn’t know as much Spanish as they made you think you did.

Intermediate-level stagnation isn’t a life sentence.

Even if you’ve been stuck there for years, you can get out.

There are simply too many myths about how language learning works out there. And they sound so logical... (after two decades teaching there are things you simply know).
